Overdrive?
I have an 98 xj and I was just wondering if it has overdrive. Might sound like a silly question but the way it's been driving has really been bothering. I live up in the mountains and I here overdrive is just killer on your tranny when doing mountain roads and such, with all the shifting. Anyone have any info on this??

Really wish it didn't haha. I hate having to downshift again just to keep highway speeds. I can never just sit at 2000 rpm to accelerate. as soon as it hits 2000 rpm is just drops down to 1100 until I make it downshift. it's frusterating.

Its a jeep. when was the last time you got good mileage. The best way to go up 285 is to go as fast as possible in 4th on the 2 downhills before Conifer, and downshift to 3rd for the rest of it. Should be able to stay around 55 60
