I had 2 of those blow on my '96 I used to own. Both on the way to the same area which as a auto parts store across the street. When the second one blew the guy at the auto parts store gave me the third one for free. Have since sold the Jeep. Never use those again.

If you wouldn't trust the piece of plastic in question in boiling water then it shouldn't be in the cooling system, since that's the temperatures it will be running at.
