Overheating 1996 excitement
everyone having heating issues should invest in an ir temp gun. My situation could be one of a kind but... I had a broken thermostat gauge for a year and it always read 0. i had to switch everything in my jeep (1996.5) to finally figure this out. my temp gauge is very far off from my cluster reading. i had done everything i could besides change the radiator and add vents trying to get my cluster to read 210. it turns out my years of stress of overheating may have never been, since my gauge said i was sitting at 230-235 without my electric fan turning on. i just got the temp gun and checked all of the contacts for temp relays. my gauge was off by 20 degrees, so my electric fan was turning on correctly. i just saw it as not turning on until i was in the red. i know we dont have the funds to fix everything on jeeps all the time and when you have the money you should spend it. but get a temp gun! check your thermostat and your cluster to see if they match. in my situation it works out well
