I did the same thing -replace the t-stat with a 180* (had 195*), but as soon as the fan kicks on the temp. drops. Just as if you had turned on the heater...the temp should drop. If your engine is running that cool the e-fan isn't going to kick on.
I found out that anything under 200* is great. It is the sudden jumps as the engine is heating up that caused me problems like when in a low gear and 4 wheeling.
I don't believe yours (Techprimus) is getting hot enought to kick on the fan. Turn on the AC and see what happens. John

I wired my electric fan directly to a toggle switch for two reasons:

The first being that I wanted complete control of when the fan comes on and for how long.

The second being that my AC pump is seized. When the AC clutch engages, the belt starts to squeal something fierce, so the AC is completely disengaged.

May I ask what method is being used to determine a 2 degree diff?

How do you check to see if a clutch fan is working or not?
My 89 Laredo has only heated up once in the last month.
Some one told me to drill a hole in the thermostats and I did and it helps.

What has this got to do with this thread title?

Whatever you do, please don't try to stop the fan with your hand........

Default Easy Fix

has anyone else had this problem and did you come up with any remedies? i thought maybe just putting some vents in the hood of the jeep right above the headers and spots that would encourage airflow. but idk. i would rather have the fan working like it should.
I had the exact same problem. Long story short, I just ran a new circuit with an inline fuse to a switch under the dash. Jeep gets hot, flick the switch, no problem. I didn't want to tear apart the old girl looking for the fan relay. I've had it this way for a couple of years now with no problem.
