overheating due to electric fan.

I did the same thing -replace the t-stat with a 180* (had 195*), but as soon as the fan kicks on the temp. drops. Just as if you had turned on the heater...the temp should drop. If your engine is running that cool the e-fan isn't going to kick on.
I found out that anything under 200* is great. It is the sudden jumps as the engine is heating up that caused me problems like when in a low gear and 4 wheeling.
I don't believe yours (Techprimus) is getting hot enought to kick on the fan. Turn on the AC and see what happens. John

The first being that I wanted complete control of when the fan comes on and for how long.
The second being that my AC pump is seized. When the AC clutch engages, the belt starts to squeal something fierce, so the AC is completely disengaged.

How do you check to see if a clutch fan is working or not?
My 89 Laredo has only heated up once in the last month.
Some one told me to drill a hole in the thermostats and I did and it helps.

Easy Fix
hello everybody. now my jeep (94 cherokee sport 4.0) has had this problem for a while. the electric cooling fan does not kick on when it should. therefore the jeep overheats unless it is driven above 40mph. if you sit and idle it will overheat due to the lack of airflow. is there a certain thing on jeeps that breaks or wears out overtime? i know we had the fan hooked up to a switch inside the cabin to operate it manually when we saw it needed to come on but we took that out after we thought we fixed it. but it still doesnt work
has anyone else had this problem and did you come up with any remedies? i thought maybe just putting some vents in the hood of the jeep right above the headers and spots that would encourage airflow. but idk. i would rather have the fan working like it should.
