I went out wheeling with some friends this past weekend in blustery hot AZ, 85 degrees. Upon following about 15 jeeps and no stopping but once for about 20 minutes, I noticed my water temp dummy light was going on and off. I didnt even have the ac on. After a little while longer it stopped and I quit worrying.

So here's my dilemma... not more than 3 months ago I changed out the radiator, upper and lower hoses, water pump, thermostat and coolant. I have raised the rear part of the hood about an inch to let the hot air out and ran foam around the radiator to force air into it and not around it. It has always ran hot and now with these changes, it doesnt seem to be running any cooler.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix my problem?

Just an idea how old is the fan clutch on ur xj bc I've replaced everything just like u did but since I did it before the winter I didn't have any issues till the spring came around n I noticed that when I spun the mechanical fan hot or cold I was still real loose now with the new clutch in when it's cold it's choose n hot it's tight meaning its still engaged
