Default Overheating ::::Water pump

I have a 2001 XJ 4.0. The truck was running hot. So I ordered up anew upper and lower hoses,a radiator, a new water pump and thermostat. I doidnt have time to do the work. They pulled the old pump and the blades were non existant ! Not a surprise.

The truck still ran hot. Now the radiator had crap in it. They pulled the heads and redid those. Truck still runs hot and I can hear the expansion tank gurgling.
I ordered the pump from Quadratec.

Just had a customer here in my office and he told me he had the same problem. He told me there are two different pumps ? Yet the website only had one choice.

Please help.

How hot is it running? What is the heat range on your new t-stat? It should be 195. You said they redid the head? Did they check it for cracks too???

That could be from a bad radiator cap. It might not be keeping pressure in your cooling system.

Gurgling expansion tank. Could be:

1. Air in the system trying to purge

2. Still getting really hot

3. Still got head/gasket/block problems

a customer told me there are two different water pumps one being a reverse flow ? He said he had the wrong one on his truck and changed it problem solved . Is this true for the 2001 4.0 ?

Yes the heads were checked for cracks. Nothing in the oil and nothing in the radiator now.

Will also replace the fan clutch.

Don't want to keep throwing parts at the problem. I do howver want this truck bulletproof.

At speed the truck doesnt run hot. Just cant let it idle long or have the plow up while driving.
