P0161
I originally had code P0158 come up. 02 sensor Circuit too high voltage, Bank 2 Sensor 2. I replaced it.
Now code P0161 comes up and 58 doesn’t anyone. This one reads 02 sensor heater circuit. Bank 2 sensor 2.
Its referring to the same exact sensor i already replaces just a new code.
Jeep runs very badly and doesn’t want to start up after it’s hot and I’ve driven it for awhile, turned the jeep off and try to restart it. It doesn’t want to start back up, very bad in idle.
Anyone know how to fix this??? Thanks

What vehicle, what year. There are no mind readers here, and oddly enough, it matters. And no, we don't remember from last time you posted.

We often get people posting in the wrong section. Grand Cherokee owners often think they own Cherokees. Later model faux-Cherokee owners often pop in, too. They have their own section.
Could well be the wire. It does happen, but what makes you suspect it? There is a fuse to check, too. 30 amp, if I remember correctly.

oh ok. I am on the right page, right? I have an 01 Cherokee XJ.
I suspect that because I replaced the actual O2 sensor. It’s brand new. And how the code P0161 is destined makes it sound like a wiring issue .

When was the last tune up? Have you replaced air and fuel filters? My 01 XJ was throwing the same P0161 and running rough when I got it. I replaced air and fuel filters, new plugs, ran through a couple of tanks treated with Seafoam and the code has not returned in nearly a year and about 8000 miles.

I replaced all the spark plugs and O2 sensor Fuse recently, the fuse was a small yellow one that said 02 on it.
air filter is new with a recent oil change. I don’t think the fuel filter has been changed.

I was able to get it straight with needle nose pliers and plug the O2 sensor back in correctly. I’m hoping that fixes it and it was permanently damaged by being plugged in incorrectly and bending that connector. I’ll know soon. I cleared the code today.
This looks to be why I was getting P0161. I unplugged the 02 sensor and saw this on the receiving end.
