The PO who did the swap somehow put the wrong one in, from an 80s/early 90s engine. Idk how, junkyarding maybe. He had no idea since he let it go non-running, and so did the next owner. Funny right? New flexplate arrives from Rock Auto Tuesday with shift kit (trans was empty figured it'd be a good time to do it). Thanks for your patience guys, glad for all the help.
got the flexplate in and got the sensors timed up and reading the way I want (had to throw one of the JY crank sensors back in FWIW The Echlin was reading four pulses then three with a long one at the end. ugh.) Still havent gotten this dog to start yet, I'm going through the rest of the sensors and stuff. It had so much gas in the crank case from firing injectors 5x per rev... Anyway here's a happy little O-scope scan for a status update.
The second group of CKS pulses look a little screwy. Perhaps crank speed stuttered a bit.
Did you get the Current Clamp? You can clip onto the 3 power wires going into the coil bar to see if ECU is sending signals (it'll look like there's a signal echo but that's because 2000 has a dual spark system) or just clip onto the coils themselves.
Thanks Dave for the continued interest help and support. And good eye on the crank, the starter is dragging bad and needs replaced. Im running a caravan coil so I just pulled a plug and checked on the valve cover bolt, I have spark. Im kind of thinking if the starter were to work properly I'd have a lot better chance of getting running at this point.
Got the new starter in tonight, I now officially have a no-code no-start with a new starter and battery, good crank and cam sensors (verified by o-scope), and no idea where to go from here.
Backfired a touch out the intake and then did some popping out the exhaust. That's it.

Boy, that's a killer! Really thought the flexplate was the aha! moment.
Are you following Crabbi's thread? See the video from scannerdanner about checking timing using compression signals and coil firing. And generate some coil waveforms. Did you do compression and fuel pressure (actual numbers please). And injector waveforms (they probably open, but do they close?)
I read through Crabbi's posts last night, thanks for that. I attempted to do the amperage/coil test from the scannerdanner video (awesome video) but couldn't get it to pick up amps with the clamp supplied in the 1008c. Is that the one you use or did you get a different amp clamp? I'll try this one again - got rained out last night.
Checked the cmp alignment again and it's good (paranoid) and checked fuel pressure. 49 psi out of the new sender so no issue there. Plugs are wet, I'll be looking into injectors as well.
Engine pops through intake consistently until I put the gas pedal on the floor for flood clearing then once I let off it pops again. I guess we are in the realm of timing or fuel being the issue.
I got a good laugh out of you referencing my rig with the renix flexplate comment.
