Default to paint or not to paint?

Coming up to the end of my rebuild and was wondering if anyone had painted the engine before and if there was a noticeable difference in operating temp, I heard that painting the block causes it to run hotter just want to see if it's dangerous hot or just a couple degrees difference over non painted

Paint it if you want to. Any temp difference would be negligible.

Painted from the factory. If you want to be concerned about temps turn your attention to the cooling system

You will never notice the difference.

Agree with the others. Not necessary; not a factor one way or the other. Whatever turns your crank.

Be sure you perform a complete cooling system overhaul when you install. Best money you can spend to complement your rebuild!

There's not much in my cooling system that's not fairly new so that's not an issue

I painted mine a couple months ago while it was out of the Jeep. I've noticed no difference whatsoever regarding the temperate.

I have painted a lot of engines and will tell you one thing paint it black. I have used blue (Ford), red and the early Chevy orange paint also.

Why? Because it will stay looking nice for a much longer time and oil, other fluids don't show up on it as with other colors. They make an engine paint sold at most auto parts stores.

Just a suggestion I have been using for the last 20 yrs or so. Plus it shows off other accessories chrome, aluminum, painted well against the black.
