Default Passenger door window, goes down but not up.

Hi folks,
my passenger window is playing up and I need a quick fix so I can use the Jeep tomorrow

Symptoms:

Passenger front window has power and winds down when using the switch on the passenger door.
Using the drivers switch does not work in either direction
The Passenger's switch is illuminated

Also:

Rear Passenger window winds up and down on the rear passenger's switch but nothing on the driver's switch.
Driver's side windows both work correctly.

I've read quite a few threads now and I think I'm going to need to check the wires in the driver's door wiring harness for continuity and replace/splice as required but I just don't have the time to get my head round it tonight. Also, my soldering iron is at work

Is there something I can do to roll the window up and disable it temporarily so my wife can take the Jeep out early tomorrow? (she needs a 4x4). It's still fine tonight but there's rain coming and that window is now all the way down

Thanks in advance (again!)

I don't know if this helps, but the light on the Front Passenger window switch goes off when I press the "up" button on the driver's window panel. It stays on when I press "Down" on the driver's switch.
It stays on no matter what I do with the Front Passenger switch.

Having banged my head against the wiring diagram for a while....
Is it worth putting 12V to the brown wire in the Passenger Door window plug?

See that dog in your avatar. I thnk he's barking up the wrong tree about now. I don't think you'll get someone to give you a straight up answer to your problem as soon as you would like.

Duct tape some clear plastic over the window opening until you can figure this out.

I found a different tree

12V and Earth to 2 and 9 on the C1 socket did the trick!

So for anyone stuck, like me....

1. Get your spare 12V battery (or find enough wire to go from the one in your Jeep, I guess). Get two wires, attach one to each terminal.
2. remove door trim panel on the front passenger door
3. locate pins 2 and 9 on the socket which the window switch plugs into. Top row (catch at the top) is 1-5 from the RIGHT. Bottom row is 6-12 from the RIGHT. So you want the second from the right on the top row, and fourth from the right on the bottom row.
4. stick one wire in 2 and the other in 9 - the window motor will run
5. reverse the wires if the window goes the wrong way.
6. Beer.

Just want to thank OP for the work-around!

My passenger side has been dead for a year because of the usual problem, never working even once, until my son randomly touched the switch and the window went down 3 inches. Argh!

I took a piece of 16ga speaker wire and soldered the ends to make hard ends for plugging into the wiring clip. I just stripped the other end an inch or so, wrapped the wire around the bolt through the hot battery cable and used needle nose pliers to touch the other side on the negative. Went all the way down! So, like you said, I reversed the wires. Perfect!

Thanks again, Morat.
