Default pcm ecu

was wondering what does the pcm ecu do exactly???
and if it has anything to do with the cruise control,,,cause its nt workin n someone suggested it might be the pcm n i just wanted to know if its true ,,,,
hoses are good new clock spring n cant find out whats wrong,,.

You Engine Control Module is what operates your XJ. It is the brain of your Jeep. It controls the fuel injection, spark timing, fuel levels, etc. Idk about ODD II XJ's, but I'm pretty sure that the ECM doesn't have any control over cruise in the OBD I's. It's vacuum controlled.
