Peace of mind maintenance and upgrades.
Hello everyone, I have a question. To start off I'll give some details about my jeep. A 1999 Cherokee sport. Automatic. 137k. When I bought her I replaced the water pump, radiator and thermostat. Fresh fluidd. She runs really well. Starts right up shifts really smooth and does 75 like it's nothing, there's no wobble whatsoever. The 4 tires she has are all in good shape.
I work 60 miles away in Quincy Massachusetts. I live in southern New Hampshire. Which means it's 120 miles there and back of straight highway driving. Once into the city there are a ton of bridge connectors most of them are pretty smooth but some are a rad rough. So my question is what can I do to my xj to keep her reliable and keep me from getting stranded? Will this commute put a lot of ware on my beloved Cherokee?
I appreciate all advice and opinions.
Thanks -Steve

I commute 40 miles a day to work and back during the week, and do some mild off-road exploring once or twice a month on weekends. I change the oil and filter every 4 to 5 months or so. I carry extra fuses, keep the tires properly inflated and the alignment tuned. I have a lube gun and lube all the joints and moving bits when I think about it, and I NEVER let the oil level get low.
I've got almost 240,000 miles on the odometer without a rebuild...yet.. crosses fingers.
Still running strong.
P.S. whoops.. I did have to rebuild the NP242 transaxle tho.. heh.
