Hey folks,
My first post...been lurking for a while.
I have a 96 XJ with a Dana 35c with the c-clips. I'm trying to do the axle bearings and seals. Everything I've read shows it to be a straight forward job.
So...up on the jack stands, wheels off, cover off and...
Cannot find the right size wrench for the pinion mate shaft lock screw. Some say 1/4" 12 point...others say 8mm 12 point...I've gone down to 7mm 12 point and still to large.
I don't want to strip/break this 'cause it will be a bummer to get out.
Any idea the size wrench/socket and where to get one? I'm at a loss and my jeep is stuck on the jack stands...not to mention I'm renting the bearing puller and slide hammer.
Thanks

It is 1/4" 12 point.
I was using some off brand wrenches, so I borrowed a set of ignition wrenches from a friend just to find the sixe...sure enough 1/4' 12 point.
I then dug deeper into my tool box and pulled out the trusty Craftsman...Job Completed. Quality tools help produce quality results.
Talk about banging your head against the wall.![Wallbash](https://www.cherokeeforum.com/images/smilies/wallbash.gif)
