Depends on how old the wrangler is as to whether it would even be worth the effort IMHO...With newer jeeps and the computers I'd personally stick to stock motor..The I6's are strong and sturdy and will last a long time if maintained..

I had a slant 6 in a duster... Could never keep that thing from leaking oil.. right around those STUPID sparkplug sleeves....
But they were as a tough as any straight 6..

Worked as a mechanic for a taxicab company and that is what they had. Keep the fluids changed and fresh plugs and points and they would run forever or 300,000 whichever came first. Then you usually needed a valve job but the lower end was still strong as an ox. They were usually pulled out of service at 400.000 miles because the body was shot but the engines still ran pretty strong. A727 tranny I think and they were strong too.
