No problem.. you can swap that axle in with the donor rear driveshaft too. It's a stronger axle than your non c-clip D35.

If you want to know the gear ratio. Get the VIN off both vehicles and call the dealership parts counter. Talk very nice to the person explain you are trying to patch together (for sympathy sake) your Jeep and you don't have alot of money.

They should be able to tell you the gear ratios that the factory delivered the Jeeps with, this will give you a good idea if you have the correct ratio. If they don't want to give you the information PM me, my dealership has been very helpful on my hunt for a wreck XJ with a D44.

Keep that 8.25 and fix it up as your next upgrade. Or if you can weld there are a bunch of D44 and Ford 8.8's that you can watch for in the junk yard.

Pull the diff cover on both front axles.

Count the teeth on the ring and pinions of each axle.

Divide the number of teeth on the ring gear by the number of teeth on the pinion to find your ratio.

If ring is 41, and Pinion is 10:

41/10=4.10

If the ratios are the same you are good.

If they are different you need to make them match.

End of story.
