It will not. The 2001 and 2001 have distributorless ignition. Every Jeep before 2000 has a distributor. You need a 2000 or 2001 XJ ECU.

Sounds good thanks, I just went ahead an ordered one from oreilly, I am working in Bismarck North Dakota and there is nothing up here!! Wish this would of happened back in Houston im sure i would of found one at a junk yard. I should get the ECM in tomorrow. Then i have to find someone to flash it and add my vin and miles to it.

Hey - that's me! Sounds like you figured it out but posting the updated article for anyone else that comes across this:

I went through the mosfet driver repair as mentioned above and in the old article, but have since switched to a mopar refurbished ECU after a faulty connector shorted the driver again.
Lots of details in the article linked but overall make sure wiring is 100% unproblematic before replacing an ECU.
