Default Poly Bushings..

Ok so who has rebushed their front end?
I'm curious to hear opinions, good bad or ugly.
I've got a slight Death Wobble starting and going to replace the track bar tomorrow and hope that cures it.
While I was installing shocks this eve I noticed it looked like the bolts might be moving a little fore and aft on the control arms.

I can say that the Gabrial Pro-Guard shocks ($25 each autozone Wrangler Fronts, and Commanche rears) made it ride much better.

Sorry got on a tangent, back to the question.
Poly experience good bad or ugly.
Thanks

For control arms, avoid poly. They transmit vibes and limit flex/articulation. OEM style rubber bushings are your best option.

Hi.
I did a 3" lift on my '93 and used rough country lower control arms w/ poly bushings. I have no current problems with the poly bushings, although they do flex a little less than rubber. The only problem I ever had with the poly bushings is that when they're new they tend to squeak pretty loud when the suspension flexes, but the cure for that is heavy silicone spray-soak both ends and when it works its way in the squeaks stop.
About your death wobble, first I'd make sure the welded on axle bracket for the track bar is in good shape, then replace the track bar. IMHO a track bar with a Heim end is the way to go. Aside from being thicker than the OEM bar, you can replace the bar end and swivel ball when it wears out without having to get a whole new bar. Hope this helps.

I replaced the track bar today, death wobble is gone.
I noticed it has a tendency to walk the road a little though, following the grooves in the road.
I think a bushing change will cure 90% of it though. I can evidence in the stabilizer bolts that appear to be moving in the holes.

Balljoints and TRE's don't have bushings, they have cups to retain grease and keep dirt/gravel out. Yes you can buy poly cups. Daystar and Energy Suspension both offer them.

I'm in the middle of chasing mine down. More than a few things replaced at this point but I can't say I have any complaints about using polyurethane on any of my vehicles. I've always globed on the provided grease and forgotten about them. I got a grease-able poly set for the front sway, since I'm down there with the grease gun anyways, and my Rusty's track bar has one; no complaints. Get em.

sorry, i should have just edited my post, i meant check/replace those to help diagnose/repair caish problem with 'following the grooves' in the road.

I haven't jacked it up to check the ball joints yet, but the rest of the front end is tight, tie rod ends etc. It could be simple as needing an alignment.

I would say it depends on how much you wheel. I changed all my control arm bushings with oem rubbers, 2-3 wheeling trips later they got so stretched they clunk worse than before I changed them. You can see were the rubber got pushed out. Get poly, the rubbers dont last
