i belive i have head gasket problems. the jeep is running great no misses rough idle or any codes. reason why i belive im having problems is cause i get loss in coolant(half quart of antifreeze every three weeks at most). also when i pull the dipstick the whole thing is covered in white chunky oil. but the oil isnt over full. i do have a slight oil leak from the valve cover. nothing massive. so im going to be changing the oil again tomorrow(last change about 1,000 miles ago). i was woundering if im blameing the right coperate. i have a 93 4.0 automatic with a little over 250,000 miles.

check the head for cracks too while you have it off

Ok. But does it seen like im blaming the right part? I've never done a head gasket before.

Yes its the headgasket. causeing oil and water to mix. do a valve job and new gasket and you should be good. As long as ur bearings hold up

if your oil looks like a milkshake, your head gasket is blown and i wouldnt drive it anymore till you get it fixed. The actual process of removal and installation is rather easy though.

I would be interested to know if your head gasket has blown on the #6 cylinder. Seems to be a real hot spot. I have had the same problem but mine was #2 and #6, but then again my thermostat stuck on I-4 down in Florida, and burned up the engine in good shape, but I had to get out of a traffic jam and get to safety. Almost made it before it shut itself down.

Idk if the bearings will hold or not I been running it like this for about two months now. didn't know the milk shake color at the time, done some research and today I decided to ask the pros. If they don't hold up oh we'll il rebuild it

Check the casting # on your head. Most 2000 came with 0331 heads. If you have that head you should get it checked. They are notorious for cracking at cylinder 3.

with a blown head gasket is there a compression drop? i know i have enough evidene to show i got a blown gasket but i wana make sure. i got a compression gauage that ive never used yet. and another q once i get it tore down how can i tell where the bad spot is. cause im curious to see where it shot at

Hes got a 7120 head, the best one they used. when you have the head off make sure nothing is warped, any shop that does a valve job should do that anyways though.

it replaced the very restrictive renix head, the 0630 head that replaced the 7120 had smaller exhaust ports for emissions reasons. The 0331 that came after the 0630 was prone to cracking. I dont know much about the newer heads that were in late model TJs and stuff. From what ive heard the 7120 is most resistant to cracking and flows the best
