Default Is it possible?

I have a 99 xj 4x4 2 door sport. It doesn't currently have the big digital overhead console. Is it possible to just switch out the original light and keyless module with the big digital console and have the digital work?

It is possible the wiring is tucked in up there. Many extra things my base model '90 didn't have I have added from u pull it, everything was plug and play with a factory connector just tucked out of the way.

I havent done it but I have seen and heard of it being done many times before so I'm sure it is not too terribly difficult. Try it whats the worst that can happen?

Yes, you can swap in an overhead console. You will also need the console wiring harness and the rear bracket that holds the console in place, since neither of these are present in a truck that wasn't originally equipped with it. The console's little trip computer will work as soon as it has a connection with the truck's computer to receive data.

For what little you gain with that upgrade its not really worth the time. If you want a lot of gauge for the money buy an Ultra Gauge it tells you everything that the computer is able to communicate in a small package. This is a photo of mine attached to the windshield, it plugs into the OBDII connector just under the dash on your 99. These are very nice tools and supply you with loads of information, do a search on them its amazing all that do I bought mine online.

As for a CB the XJ is very tight to mount one so I bought this Cobra for under a $100. All controls are on the mic including the speaker, which works well in mine but there is another plug for an external spk also on the control box about 2x2x2" and mounts under the dash on the firewall. All connections go to it power, 12v, coax antenna/to radio. The radio is very easy to control and use after just a few times and hook-up is a breeze being where the box is located.

This radio works very well (range wise) on the trails talking to others.
