Default possible alternator issue

My volt gauge just shot all the way up to 19 three tines and I got the check gauges light. All ground wires are pretty good. Any ideas?

I've heard that when an alternator fails it often overproduces on the Voltage. You can have your alt checked at just about any parts place for free. I believe without even having to remove the alt.

I'd start by checking the voltage at the battery with a voltmeter before you go any farther...

Voltage is regulated thru computer not alternator.

I believe you can install an external regulator. Ive heard of this being done, im just not sure what it all requires.
