Ok, this is now getting interesting.......Mine has a switch, No, it is not a retrofit, Yes it does work, it changes the gear ratio, No im not in the USA, so maybe mine isnt a 96? but when did crysler make the limited sport? How do I find out what year my model is? All I have is when it was 1st registered in this country, so it could have been on a showroom floor in another country for ages too ? Ill try post a pic of the switch, and my jeep, maybe someone can help identify it. Oh and its a RHD (if that helps)

As JeepCoMJ said the power/comfort doesn't change your gear ratio, just the engine RPM when the trans shifts. So do you have the title for it? If not, having the VIN number run will tell you all the information about it, including year. I'm sure someone on here could run the VIN number for you also. Is it a limited or a sport? It can't be both. Limited packages were run from 87-92 and 98-01. Sport packages were run from 87-01. Posting some pictures could very well help.
So now that makes it even more interesting.......if what you say is correct...then there shouldnt be a limited 96? As soon as I figure out how to upload pics, ill post them

there is NO power/comfort selection on a united states american cherokee produced in the year 1996.
that switch either is in a bezel from an older cherokee, installed to do something else entirely, or it is there to look like you have a switch that does something it doesn't.
there is no room for contradicting that...that is FACT for US cherokees 1991 and newer.
I have heard of a few 91's from canada with a power/comfort switch, so perhaps the canadian 96 model had that switch. I do not know.
either way, figure out what the heck it's for by popping your dash bezel apart and looking @ the back of the switch. if the switch is not a 3 pin single rocker switch, then it is not a power/trans switch. IIRC, a 96 should have the rear defrost switch in the location where your switch is.

I went to get a PCV valve from the agents, and 1st they didnt know what I was talking about, so I said if they bring up the duagram, ill show them, to do this, they needed the vin number, which I gave them, they then said there is no such jeep........mmmmmmmm so we went back and took the vin number off the dash board, which as we checked, is the same as the one in the engine bay, so where tney came up with the vin on my lic disc, no one knows! anyway, its official....she is a 95 jeep cherokee!

Enormous thread-lift... But anyway:
Hey guys! My first post here, bought myself an Swedish-sold 1994 XJ 4.0HO Limited, all electric and automatic (AW4?)
And my car has the power/comfort button to the right of the colum, besides the rear-wiper button. Seems like they threw on som left over parts when they manufactured for the euro market.
Regards from Sweden!
