Yeah, but he said it's a 1988. Not sure those butt-splices are factory, so perhaps someone already removed it? The black "loop" you see is the pullup resistor for the brake switch. Aside from looking like it's maybe partially unplugged, it looks typical and fine. If that's broken or disconnected, the trans computer will thing you're pressing the brake and not lockup the torque converter. The factory wrapped it into the wiring harness using duct tape.
While you have it apart, measure the voltage on the tan wire in pin C11 on the computer connector. It should be right next to the blue with yellow stripe wire going to that resistor in pin C10. That's the same tan wire that goes to the switch and should show 12-volts in power mode and 0-volts in comfort mode. The connector does not have to be connected to the computer while testing.

Ok sorry it took awhile to respond I’ve just been busy. I’ve checked the voltage on the C11 wire and it has power when the switch is turned on and no power when it is turned off. So I’m assuming it might be my transmission computer that is having issues.
If you have any other suggestions please let me know. My Jeep is driving super gutless with no power when I hit the gas. I can barely go above 15mph on any hill on the street and dirt when I’m floored in it. Thanks for the help guys

Nope. That's power only for power/comfort switching only.
If this is an 88, there is a fuse bundled in the harness that blows or gets corroded.

How far up was that fuse from the connector that connects to the transmission computer? I only ask because if you look above at my pics I tried locating it before and I couldn’t find a in line fuse. I took a lot of the tape they had there and looked for it.

The harness connector for the tCU, and the TCU receptacle itself, are they the same color?

The color of the plastic on the connector on the computer should match the color of the connector from the wiring harness. They are keyed so you can only plug in the right computer, unless you get creative with an exacto knife. Should be grey on a 88 I believe. I think Cruiser was trying to see if someone maybe got creative and swapped in a later computer that didn't have the power/comfort option.

i know you guys are working on fixing the wire splicing, but on a side note, it sounds like his TPS is shot. he said no power from a stop in drive, i can only assume.
DB13, did you try shifting into 1-2 and shifting up to drive? if that works, i would look right into the throttle positioning sensor. yours should be adjustable, or simply replace.
now, back to your regularly scheduled program...

Ok yes I’ve tried doing the shifting manually and it still seems like it’s lagging power.
My Jeep went from running perfecting fine with tons of power to all of a sudden no power at all. When I hit any type of incline on the fwy or street my Jeep goes about 15mph.
i think I’ve watched a video how to adjust the TPS and I did it the same way with no change.
