I think Cruiser was trying to see if someone maybe got creative and swapped in a later computer that didn't have the power/comfort option.
I went to pick a part and took a TCU (red sticker on it) and grabbed the wire harness that went with it. Do you think it will work even though it’s from a different Jeep? Same size motor and it was the same year as mine

See if it'll plug into the existing connector.

Both TCUs that I grabbed yesterday do plug in and it runs the same.

I have a related question.

On my 87, the switch works, the light turns on (not always, I have sometimes to « shake » the switch.).
the transmission reacts to the switch.

But the switch is very hot. Not warm, hot.
Difficult to keep the finger on it.

what would you suggest ?

(of course I could put a jumper, but I like riding with the « granny » position on.

They will plug right in. Gotta be the same color connector. Wish I had a photo.

Take the bulb out of the switch.

Thats weird about the same color because both the TCUs that pulled from pick a part had red stickers on them but grey connectors. Why would that be? And my Jeep ran perfectly fine and then one day just stopped having power

I'm not sure difference the sticker makes. It's the color of the connector that determines if they are keyed the same and will plug into each other.

Actually, different colors will plug in. and, you're right. sticker colors are irrelevant.
