Default Power door locks not working, key fob lock sets off alarm?

Hi, really stumped with a problem that just came up with my new XJ. Stock alarm system. Well, the power locks stopped working, and if I hit the lock button on the key fob it sets off a long “honk” type alarm sound. If the vehicle is running and I use the fob, it doesn’t sound the alarm honk, but the power locks still don’t work. Has anybody seen anything like this before? I’ve searched for hours and can’t find anything that exactly fits the bill. Please let me know if anybody has any ideas!

What year are we talking about?
You know for a fact that you have the factory alarm?
One of your keys is gray and not black?
I ask all this cause in my '00, no alarm, if I lock the doors with the fob the horn beeps.
Not when I unlock.
And I am almost positive if I try to lock the doors with the key in the ignition, when not running in the off position, that they will not lock.
Which in my head makes sense so you don't lock your keys in the Jeep.

it’s a 1999 Sport Classic. Both key fobs are black. The power door locks don’t work either, they’ll make a clicking noise when I try to use them. Also they worked fine the day before yesterday. However I was messing with the battery and saw a spark and I swear I recall hearing the doors lock. I’m wondering if maybe I shorted something and if I should check fuses...

My understanding is that when you have the factory alarm one of the keys is chipped.
And it would be gray not black. Without the gray key in proximity to the Jeep it won't start.
Or start but not stay running. Can't remember which.
So going with you do not have a factory alarm.
So the locks don't work with either the fob or the buttons on the door panels?
And when you try you hear a click from the passenger side front door panel?
If so I am thinking the passenger side control is bad.
In an XJ that switch controls the locks.
I had that problem in my '00.
So having extra switches I threw in a used one. Lasted about a month. Threw in another used one.
Going on 3 maybe 4 years now and so far so good.
But that was my problem.
So before you start throwing parts at the Jeep.
I would see if you are getting power to the switch.
Going to need a meter, have to figure out which terminal in the connector in the door is power, and thinking if you hit the driver's side door lock switch you should see a reading.
Just a guess and thinking it would be just for a second that you would see voltage.
Guys have problems with their driver's side control not letting passengers roll down their windows at their respective doors.
It is an issue with the window lock button.
Guys resolder the switch. Google it.
Some guys have used the same procedure on the passenger switch with success.
So you might want to try that.

I can resolder the switch (I bought this vehicle expecting to perform strange maintenance as it’s quite old) BUT there are new developments...

the power locks now work instead of making clicking sounds. I about screamed in happiness on my way home from work! When I got home I tested the fob, and now the lock button sets off a single alarm sound. HOWEVER, I can now lock the vehicle from the inside and unlock on the fob works just fine. Wtf??? It’s like the gremlin doing this has a kind of its own... if you think it’s the window lock switch I’ll resolder that and run those meter tests. I’m just glad I can actually lock and unlock my car now, albeit not from the fob!

Okay so the key fob does it all now... locks/unlocks BUT... when I hit lock it makes the extremely loud alarm sound honk. It works I guess... would still like to know if anybody has ever had this issue

Supposed to make a quick beep when you lock them with the fob.
