Power Mirrors - Not Working - 98 XJ
I have a 98 xj with power mirrors, which are not working. I've taken the door panel off, and all the wiring appears to be in good shape. Fuses were fine as well. Anyone have this issue? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

woah buddy don't be so quick to assume. Ha
Lol trust me my Jeeps are my babies.
But sometimes stupid little things are better left alone then trying to untape and trace the wires. ESP on something like that that doesn't matter. How often do u move ur mirrors anyway?

I am going to make the assumption that neither of your power outside mirrors are working. If that is the case you either have a bad switch in the door, or no power to the switch.
The first thing that I would check is power to mirror switch. It is very common for the wiring that goes through the door jamb to break after some time. Your mirror switch won't get power, or will only get it intermittently. You may also notice problems with your door speakers and it is the same problem.
If you have power to the switch, you can try using jumpers to power the mirrors and make sure that they move. If you have power and can get the mirrors moving jumpers, then you most likely need a new switch. But I would bet you a cold frosty beverage that it is a broken power feed to the switch.
If you do find a broken wire where it goes through the door jamb, just splice in a new piece and you will be good to go.

I have the same problem, neither of my power mirrors work, and my speakers dont work in the front as well. Someone once told me it was most likely a wiring harness issue, but could it be as simple as the one wire?

I just fixed my DS speaker and power windows yesterday. I would be willing to bet it is related to a bad solder connection on the DS door control panel. If the wires are good I would try this next.
This is a vid on how to fix the power windows but the problem and fix should be the same. If you redo all of the solder points you should hit the bad ones.

Good info! I'll take my door panels off and see if I can find a broken wire. I'm assuming I'll probably have to take off both door panels since neither of the mirrors work?

"I would be willing to bet it is related to a bad solder connection on the DS door control panel. If the wires are good I would try this next." - That is MOST likely, then a frayed wire, broken , loose ground .... get a meter, and TEST! - test while opening / shutting doors, wiggle wires - esp if occasional/ inconsistent problemsit's only a PITA while you're thinking of it that way - I do it too, until I NEED it done ... then just do it. ~ Don't use Tape! - shrink-wrap, Liquid elec tape, epoxy... resin.. solder is ur friend! :-)
