Default Power steering box input shaft seal replacement

While under the Jeep today I noticed the input shaft seal on the power steering box is dripping. Ugh. Outside of that, the steering is good. I found the seal on Amazon for $6. It should be on my porch Sunday according to Amazon, love that Prime service. I did a brief search and it appears pretty straight forward.

Looking for any advice/tips on changing this seal. Thanks all.

Hey there bad idea, did mine not to long ago. Is pretty straight forward, just research it well(watch a few youtubers doing it helps). Marking locations on the shafts, nuts etc.. with something that will not rub off(i used paint and small brush). Unfortunately since a little messy of a job(the fluid), my marks rubbed off on the input shaft part and upon putting all back ended up with too much play in steering and foamed the system up as well(didn't bleed system correctly)!?! I do have it all dialed in once again. Suggest doing both seals since the unit is going to be out. Hope your r/r goes a bit smoother than mine... It is so nice not having any leaks under the jeep!

I agree with Turbo!!! I just did the seal kits though, along with control arm bushings and few other misc...

Umm... I can replace the input shaft seal by pulling the adjuster plug and lock nut. Shouldn't have to disturb anything else. I'm not digging into this box any further than I need to. To rebuild the box over one leaking seal is like rebuilding an engine because the oil pan gasket is leaking.
