Power steering leak
My pressure hose has a little pin hole in the side of it that shoots a steady stream of fluid out during a turn...I don't wanna replace it cause $ are low...what solution would be better...putting some kind of bondo (quiksteel, etc.) on it or getting a rubber hose to fit over the pressure hose and clamp it down?

I know this isn't something you want to hear but since the pressures in a power steering pressure hose is well over 1000 psi I wouldn't recommend a bandaid fix. Leaving it go is going to create a fire hazard.
I think you would spend more time and money trying to bandage it than just replacing the hose... I believe the pressure hose is around 25 bucks at an auto parts store. With some power steering fluid you could be up and running for about $30

From what I've been told installing it isn't much of an easy task..if you strip something on the steering gear your looking at a big problem..the hoses are out rageous...I've been quoted no joke 50+..I got some hose tape to dampen the leak till I come to a decision

Not sure on a 1988 but on my 1998 it wasn't that hard to change the pump and line... Are you going to some place like O'reilly, NAPA or Autozone? Or a dealership?

try rockauto.com......pretty reasonable prices....
typically u want to use a "flare-nut" wrench.
specifically designed to take off and put on hydraulic hose fittings.
(autozone, o'reillys, etc, should loan ya the tool...if you need it.)
one thing you can do to mitigate any fluid all over the place is.......
before you start, have one of those large turkey baster syringes handy.....(you can re-use this fluid!)
and a large clean (1 gallon maybe) bucket.
take the cap off the pwr steering reservoir, use the turkey baster to remove most of the fluid from the pump, etc.
(all you will have left is whats remaining in the old hose.)
you can use a rag underneath now to capture what little is in hose as you remove it.
before you put on a new hose, ensure all the fittings are clean and DRY!!!
then when tightening, just tight that feels secure to you, not massive hammer tight, but solid, ya know?
serious, I think you can get new hose for 20 bucks,
Anyway, my two cents.

The rubber hose over the stock hose with clamps is a good trail fix to get you home but, not a good idea at all for the long haul. Since it is your pressure side hose, drop the required cash for a new one...or even get a known good junkyard replacement until you can afford a new one. I bet the JY hose would only run you 5-10 bucks.

At autozone and advanced they have the pressure hose for about $18. You don't have to worry about damaging the steering box because the fitting on the hose is made of a softer material, so the threads on that will get messed up first. It took forever to install mine, but it was a cheap fix and I'm glad I did it.

Sometimes they give you (Standard, or Premium) choices on the quality of hoses and belts. Maybe you got the Premium estimante? should be pretty straight forward. I just did my whole power steering pump and hoses..As I retrned from climbing Mt.Jefferson, a log slid down the hill, hit my tire and turned my front tires. back pressured the system, killed the pump :-)

Picked up my hose from o'reilly's today...set me back 23 bucks...not too bad..better than paying maxi auto 130 to replace it. The metal fittings on it look odd though..the part that fits on the pump looks correct but the other end looks like it threads in sideways...if that makes any sense..Im at school so ill check in a minute when I leave and make it home.
