Power steering leak?
I知 doing some needed maintenance to my cooling system and just as I was about to start I noticed this pool of oil below the drivers side of the engine. I looked above it and saw this.
I致e never messed with the steering before, so I知 really not sure what to do about this. Thanks for your help.

Looks like the seal on the shaft is leaking. You can replace the box, or rebuild it depending on your skill level

That is a big leak, probably it is worse when the steering is being used verse sitting in the driveway. If you run the level of steering fluid low, you can end up destroying the steering gear box AND the steering pump, and I mean destroy! $$$$$$$$ this maybe a relatively simple repair now, perhaps even fixable with the steering gear box left in place. however if you run it out of fluid and drive, you are looking at perhaps many 100s of bucks in repair bills.
unfortunately the jeep like many modern cars uses that gawd awful serpentine belt to drive the pump, thus preventing one from simply removing the pump drive belt and being able to drive with no power steering. I hate the serpentine belt, a stupid design, one that can easily leave you stranded even if a non critical item such as the steering pump or AC compressor fails
I have an old van, and both the power steering and AC compressor, are ran off a separate vee belt. I can drive the van with those two systems disabled, yet my alternator and importantly the water pump run on a separate belt. Much better relibility!
Anyway, avoid driving until fixed or risk great damage$$$$$$

My 94 was leaking almost that bad. A dose of AT-205 fixed it. I mean STOPPED it.
It's worth a shot. OR just replace the unit. It's not a difficult job. Had to do that on my 97 because the AT-205 only slowed it down. It's like that sometimes.

Just dump in the correct amount according to the directions. Drive as usual. YOu'll know within a few days if it's going to do the job.
Replacements can be found at all the usual suspects; NAPA, AutoZone, PartsGeek.com, etc.
Nah. Been using it long before I heard of Scotty. I really don't remember, it's been that long. Maybe here on this forum!
