There is a product called Rust Check. I do not know how well it works but they make one for undercarriages.

Might best be posted in OEM Tech rather than Fab.

And just so you know, the lack of punctuation can tend to make the older guys avoid reading your posts.

From a teacher -- short and to the point

In the world of hi-tech gadgetry, I've noticed that more and more people who send text messages and emails have long forgotten the art of capital letters.

For those of you who fall into this category, please take note of the following statement:

"Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse."

Is everybody clear on that?

It works quite well. A few cars here with that product are in excellent shape. Late December I welded in a new floor pan, weather prevented me from painting properly so there eas just a dab of primer on it. I hit it with the thick Rust Check formula; cleaned it off two weeks ago, looks great. It's also a lot less toxic than ATF/tar if your Jeep does any water crossings.

Rust Check? That's a new one on me. I'll have to Google it. I have some existing rust, and plan on using Chassis Saver all over everything, and then bedliner over it on the places where it makes sense.

From the website:

The Rust Check system requires a complete annual reapplication. For maximum protection of the vehicle, it is completely reapplied each and every time.
That rules it out for me!

Since your 98 is presently "rust free", I would recommend cleaning first,

and then painting. My 97, and 98 here in Virginia are rust free. I plan

on spraying some paint underneath soon. I use enamel paint from

Tractor Supply for this process often. This paint does not hold up well

in sunlight, but does good under a vehicle.

I would not use any oil under a vehicle, , because it will attract dirt.

I have seen leaky oil pans rust through.
