Default Is this a problem?

Recently I've noticed a dripping noise from the engine bay once I turn the car off, no drips on the ground but it sounds like a steady stream then a drip then stops after a minute or so. Also it sounds like there is something that is constantly cycling up and down when the car is on somewhere on the passenger side. I don't know much about cherokees or cars in general but want to, kinda why I bought the car. Any help with this that could save me a pricey trip to the shop for nothing would be greatly appreciated.

Completely normal, its the oil dripping back into the oil pan.

Kyle is probably right but it could also be the A/C if you are running it. The cycling was what clued me to that possibility. The draining may be condensate and the reason you don't see anything on the ground is that your drain is stopped up. Just a possibility not sure, as I said Kyle is probably correct.

My F150 and a few other vehicles do the same thing. Seems normal to me.

Thanks, I was just hoping it wasn't anything serious, I might still have my shop look at it next time I'm in there just for piece of mind ... first car and all.

You will be just fine, I notice it on most 4.0's.

Yeah mine does that too. Worried me at first because I had never heard it on any other car ive owned but I just figured it had to be the oil going back into the pan.

My wife heard mine doing it for the first time last weekend and started looking under it for a leak. I asked what she was doing and laughed when I told her what she was hearing.
