Problem with intermediate shaft on 2000 Cherokee
Intermediate shaft has been going bad on my 2000 xj and decided to go with a used shaft before springing for the $300 borgeson one (supposedly off another 97-01 model). I got the old one off and then realized the design for the new used one is different than my current one.
My current shaft has splines and that mate up to the steering box and steering column, and then a single bolt on either side to tighten down. The used one I bought has no splines but seem to clamp down only. I’ll include pictures of all of it. My question really is, did I get sent a different model shaft, or does this still work? And if I end up going with the borgeson universal shaft will that actually line up with everything I have?
Used shaft that I purchased
Current shaft that’s been on it
I’m assuming the flat spot is to help it line up, but it also appears to have several of the teeth worn down completely

I don't think the one you got with no splines is not the right one . I have not seen one with out splines before . I would return it and try again . make sure the lock bolt that holds it in place is tight enough to hold it from moving .
