problem starting; electrical drain
I have a 1999 cherokee. It starts fine every day, however if I let it sit for two days the battery is drained. At that point it will start with jumping. The battery was replaced about 2 months ago. I had it checked out by two auto shops already, they both briefly checked it with an amp meter and found it to be fine. I thought the drain was the rear dome light, so I disconnected it, however this did not solve the problem. There is a drain on the battery somewhere that is not obvious to me. Any suggestions? I have seen this posted by other people via a google search, but could not find it on here. thanks.

you need a 12volt test light, remove the neg bat cable and connect the test light between the cable and the neg bat post .if you have a under hood light disconnect it while the hood is up ,the test light should be lit but very dim the radio memory and clock will do this its normal.close all doors remove one fuse at atime untill you find the fuse that makes the test light very dim .the radio and clock will make it very dim remember when you find the fuse that makes it dim check the circuts that that fuse powers

I finally bought a 12 volt test lamp; they don't sell them anywhere near where I live, in Germany, so I had to order one online. Unhooking the negative battery cable and completing the circuit via the 12 volt test lamp did indeed result in a very bright light on the lamp. Then I removed each fuse and relay in the power distribution center until the light went out, this was at fuse F16, a 15 amp fuse (4 over and 3 down). This fuse appears to be linked to the dash board gauges. I removed the fuse, the jeep appears to run fine without this fuse, just no gauges, and am now waiting a couple days to see if the battery remains charged. Any ideas what to do after that? (assuming that the dashboard fuse/circuit is the source of the draw)
