BTW.....

I'm with the others here, massive vacuum leak.

You need to take the intake off, install a new gasket.

Take your time and do it right.

Correct, as was with mine.

I modified the washers.

Yes. A "hole into the manifold" is also called a vacuum leak. Even very small ones are a problem.

Thanks JD, was only 99% sure!

As far as I know they were the same size, I had them side by side and didn't see a difference.

When I took the throttle body cables off, I broke one. When I ordered a new one it was called a brake booster cable. It runs from the TB to the left side of the engine to a little black circle thing with what looks like vacuum lines attached. Do you know what that does?

I'll find a way to plug that. I was wondering if it was a problem or not, because as far as I could tell the old one was open.

Have you got cruise control?

Plug the hole. One cable goes to your right foot, the other to the trany. Do make sure the "not a kickdown" cable to the trans isn't holding the throttle open. There is a button on the top of that cable housing right where the cable comes out. I set mine with just a scoch of play. Not pulling but not loose ether.

EDIT Oh! Yea, I have a third from my cruze to the same bracket that the throttle cable goes to. My Cruse cable is slack.

Maybe you can post pics of what you have so that others can help you.

How many cables do you have?

I would but I'm at work. I have three, one to the transmission, one to the accelator and the third to the thing I was talking about.

My third cable to the cruse control connects there on the same bracket as the throttle cable. It is slack, no tension there. Pretty sure there is no such thing as a brake booster cable.

That's what I was getting at....it's the cruise cable he broke.

What I'm wondering is if he has them connected to the correct locations?

If so........and it's not a problem at the TB......he's got a problem at the gasket.
