Don't take his word for any of those things. If I was selling a super low milage vehicle and was claiming excellent condition, there would be at least a dozen pictures of the undercarriage. Get proof of the clear title.

Personally i think it is priced okay if there wasn't body damage. It isn't a "clean" vehicle
Already got proof of clean title. Definitely understand the concern and I share it. This is just based on what I've been able to gather and he seems forthcoming.

Perhaps "clean" isn't the right word. But interior looks great, everything is good aside from the body damage. I ask myself, is 6, 7, 8k "priced right?" To find a 4x4 anything nowadays in decent shape is hard. Go look at Cherokees listed online through Carfax and try to compare it to this...that's the difficult choice to make.

EDIT: SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS FOR UNDERCARRIAGE CONDITION

Jump on the web.

See what SUV''S you can get for 9K. Notice the milage and condition.

See the prices of anything with 50-60K miles on it. Notice the prices and condition.

I think you can see where I'm going with this.

And let's be honest, prices are crazy. Let's say a recession hits and used prices come down. I bet old CRVs and whatever else people are overpaying for get hit harder than an XJ. Rust free XJs won't be around too much longer. Supply and demand.

You're clearly not in the market to buy an XJ. I paid $9K two years ago for a very clean XJ with 170K miles and I had to fly and pick it up. Baldwin... they ain't getting any cheaper!

So it is just as clean on the bottom. That would be the deciding factor for me. If I was on the fence before, I’d jump on it now.

There’s plenty of stuff you can get these days for 9k. Stuff that’s engineered down to the edge of failure, it’s not tough. Stuff that’s so complicated that you can barely work on it yourself, and forget about modding it.

The XJ is simple, tough, and has practically endless aftermarket support at all levels. They don’t make stuff like this anymore. If the body and frame is clean and is taken care of, you can bolt parts in forever.

The lift, bumper, and body damage are all bummers. Without those, and at that low mileage, that would be a solid 8-9k vehicle, maybe 10. With those? 7k.

The majority of that body damage can be easily fixed with a few new matching color panels, maybe $300

The dent in the rear quarter, why even bother fixing that, just leave it and replace the torn off parts, will just add patina

Fixing the rear dent properly, there are several ways, if done by self, cost **** all, maybe $1k at a body shop

I dont know XJ prices over there, its on the high side, we get that here for excellent examples

There is absolutely nothing improper with haggling and waiting, or msg the guy with a firm offer say 7.5k

No rust is a huge bonus

Expect to have to do some front suspension work to eliminate vibration, this can be tricky on a lifted truck, as all caster, alignment and tyre balance must be spot on, and there can be no lose suspension parts

Trust me, if I could buy a stock XJ with low miles like this for 8-9k, I would have done it. Yes, getting it for 7-8k would be awesome.... but do I make a big fuss over that difference? I can swap the bumper out and sell the current if I wanted. I can replace the header panel and fender from pick and pull. Cover the rear quarter up with armor after getting it straighter.

Heck, I could take the lift off and sell components...go with a DPG 2.5" ultimate hybrid kit. Bet I could put 3k in it and have a pretty sweet ride ...

Now you're talking! If you are good with it, buy it. Life is short. And I always tend to overpay a little for a no-rust vehicle that is getting more rare.

The pics of the bottom are a game changer for me, being up north where they’re all rusty. If you’re willing to pay the asking price, I’d go for it. If someone else snags it, you might be kicking yourself. I’d go preparing to pay 9k, but maybe offer 7 or 8 just in case there’s more haggle room having seen it in person.
