I think I'm safe in saying a small tick is normal in the old AMC engines. Mine does it all the time, still need to get it fixed.

Ok so your making Purple a happy girl! Maybe it was just the crust on the battery posts, making him die but what about this muffler thing, you said a magnaflow would have any blockage, this blockage feels solid and metal like its not soft

Also, dirty battery terminals won't affect anything while the engine is running as everything gets powered by the alternator. But if your alternator is bad then yes dirty battery terminals may cause driving problems

Imma go shove a wire hanger up its keester, there is something there lol. Like a plate or something. It drops off right before the thing that my tire goes on so I cant really look in there.

At least take it out to dinner first! I really don't think anything is blocking it. As mentioned above the magnaflow has a slight bend in it so you will contact metal when using a clothes hanger to fix a drunken mistake from a party...

The battery is probably shot, a weak battery that can't maintain a charge will cause stalling and a low idle.

Have the battery load tested for free at a place like autozone. If you can't make it, you could swap another battery in place of it. I a very similar issue where if I let off the throttle for more than a second or two it would stall. Drove with 2 feet and popped it into neutral when coming to a stop kept it running lol.
