I have a Dual head unit Dual amp and Dual 2X 12" subs in one box, I got everything but the head unit and installed for 300$ and the sub kicks like a **** but I like my music to be balanced Music and bass. Im not out to be one of those hear it from 3 blocks away kind of guy. plus if you start bumping too much and stand out side the cherokee it sounds stupid cuz there is stuff rattling all over the place

Subs sound really depends on the box also. You can take a top line sub in a crappy box,and a crappy sub in a nice box can sound alot better!

not true, sony xpolds are damn loud but ive got a rockfordfosgate p3 12inch sub in a q logic medium ported box. its getting powered by a rockford fosgate p3 500 watt sub. that hits hard!!! as for speakers go ive got the 6.5 pyle's and a "pyle driver" thats the name of the sub box. a poineer premier ho deck and it sounds great. i didnt like speakers in the hatch cuz it didnt rise up all the way and i like having everything in boxes so when i go camping i can just take them out. also i did say walmart.com alot of kids are running the xplods and love em they amp the crap out them too!

walmart doesn't sell them in the store there just a middle man for the companies. pyle sounds just as good as pioneer in my dads nova

You want loud and clear, stay away from the off brand (Pyle, Dual, etc), check for clearance and sales on name brands. It's X mas season, see what kind of sales you can find. That's how mine was put together, X mas sales. Rockford is the best bass you will find, but are very sensitive to box size (if they say .75 cu, they mean it), my brother has one kicker 10 (the square one) that puts both my 12's to shame, but it's like 300 by itself, plus a 1000w amp to power it. Depending on the deck you have now, just upgrading your speakers may or may not help. Alot of off brands suck real bad and don't produce good sound even with good speakers. I have a dual 1200 w amp that is just laying around because it doesn't sound as good as the fosgate 150w I put in my GF's Subaru. Dual says it's 1200w, but when tested it puts out only 125w then looses clarity, produces 300w max. Pyle just sucks as a brand. Try to match the system, that's how the company's that make them design them, hence my kenwood throughout system. Go to Crutchfield.com, they have tech's for free, email one, tell him you have $400 to spend and what you want (and tell them you wanna stay within one brand cuz they do get paid a commission), they will give you free advice.

I know this is a very opinionated topic! Everyone has a strong bias toward what we run...

Do yourself a big favor and go listen to the Hertz line and look at what's being said online about them...

I'm running 4.5 in the door and 6 in an overhead sound bar. I am only running 50 wats to them from a good head unit and it has such a good range of sound that I am sencond guessing weather I realy need to go with the three outputs to drive seperate amps and subs. I was floored by the bass that the 4.5s deliver and I can't come close to pushing my 6s because I need to pull the headliner and dyno-mat the roof to keep it from rattling like a cheap motel bed!

I have put good sound systems in all my rigs since the first 8 track players were the thing! I can not say it any clearer than start with "Great" speakers, dyno-mat, then build from there! Dosent have to be Dyno-matt brand, just get the rattles out!

With every speaker, the cubic space of the enclosure is critical. My sound bar is actually too small for the 6s but they were available from another rig and my deck allows me to adjust the speakers so well that I don't have a problem tuning them for the best output...

Hertz has three levels of speakers. I don't have the model #'s with me but the one line that I am running in the Jeep is about $130 for a six inch set. The set I am going to swap in here real soon runs over $240 for the 6" (And rated the best 3way available). The next line up is all seperate components and you can spend a stupid amount on those!

What's a "Stupid" amount of money? It's a realitive thing to everyone. I have about $450 in mine, so far, and the stage is set to spend about that much more... Some people don't want to spend more than $40 for better than stock sound and put the money elsewhere... By the way, just about any thing is better than the stock speakers. It boils down to how you want your Jeep!

is Hertz a new brand? Do you know who makes them (most companies make 2 or 3 lines under different names)? I have never heard of them or heard them and pay attention in the audio shops around. I was certified by Pioneer to install when I worked at the detail shop (stupid BS for thier warrantees) and can honestly say that if you don't have a good deck pushing, the rest will be crap too.
I wouldn't say what brand to run is opinionated, it's all about personal preference. I like loud and clear sound, hard hitting bass that doesn't overrun the mids and highs (for rock/metal/country), some people tune theirs for vocals (for rap).
With subs, Fosgate is just very specific, my kenwoods run best at 1.25cu per sub but sound good from 1.0cu to 2.5cu per. I am running about 1.95 for the sound i wanted, and got lucky finding the box to fit it. I've had to make a few.
As I said before, my kenwood setup is so loud I border being cited for noise violations. I left it running while in the store last night, windows up, doors closed, store door closed and could still hear it clearly while shaking the windows in the store slightly.
But this is just what works for me, test brands out at the audio stores, Best Buy is good for finding out what to buy by testing it, but I wouldn't buy there for thier crappy installation and inflated pricing.

Went to look for you to see who makes them and was quickly corrected on how many models they realy make. I am now running the Energy Model and will be going to the DIECI soon. Take a look if you want, take a listen if you can find a showroom near you... Here in WA state, they are carried by Alpine Audio.

I can't find a US distributor on their website. Where in WA are you? I grew up in the Marysville/Arlington/Darrington area.

I just found their sub or father companies, none of which I know. Not to mention it looks as if they are only available through third party dealers in the States so there is no way for me to say either way whether I like them or not.

If you were close to me I would make one that was professional in every aspect. I will prolly make a couple of them like mine to sell for some extra X-mas cash cuz Im running low and I need some parts for my XJ badly. My alt just went out!

Depending on your cost to make and ship + time, might be worth it anyway, JC Whitney is selling them for $100 or so and that's only able to fit an 8". I bet I could help move a few in the local club I'm in.

Ok Bro, first off, Check www.millionbuy.com.
I guarantee you they have the best prices, compare prices from crutchfield, bestbuy, all other, and million buy beats them by a good percentage.

Now i recomend the kickers cvrs, theyre like those black ones in the beginning of the thread, except their gray, those hit good.

Now the polk audios are just bad ***, I bout them for like sixty i think at million buy and theyre over a hundred anywhere else. Those sound so clear on my nissan that ima get em for my jeep when i fix the stereo.

Now the amp, i got a cheapy one that put out 1200 watts, i suggest mono block, mine had two channels, unless u wanna wire them to the speakers, But i didnt i jus use the headunit, puts out enough watts anyway.

Also get a good ported box, dont get sealed. i suggest regular not those dual bandpass.

And at last get a good amp/wiring kit. Get one that has at least 4 gauge for the ground and power.

All these might be under 400 but u might go over but ull have a real good sytem, hope this helps.

Gotta say they do have good prices, better than most, but not as much of a selection as others. Not knocking it by any means, but I couldn't find the stuff I'm running on there and I know Crutchfield stocks it.
