Default Putting Seafoam in the oil, with Rear main seal leaking.

Anyone done this?

Did Seafoam make the RMS leak worse?

Yea, it does. It's designed to liquefy sludge...I would guess you've got some sludge buildup there and running the Seafoam through will most likely make things worse. If you decide to use it, I would run it but be prepared to repair that main seal.

I have a bad RMS and I haven't noticed any worse leaking since I ran seafoam through it. Just my $0.02

Before you put the Seafoam in the crankcase, read a bit about AutoRX. In some cases, it will stop a seal leak. I'll clarify: sometimes the seal is damaged and nothing but replacement will fix the leak, but in some cases the seal gets a brittle deposit on it that AutoRX might be able to remove, making the seal supple again.

In addition to working on seals, AutoRX will remove sludge and free up ring packs, lifters, etc. I have nothing to do with the company, but I've used it and have been happy with the results.

Crankcase is a no no.

Seafoam MSDS Lists: Naphtha/IPA/Paleoil

Seafoam is alcohol based and alcohol and oil don't get along too well, also it would be the first thing sucked up by the oil pump, and bearings hate low viscosity liquids.

Do some research on google, youll see what Im referring too.
