Got a 35 rear with a leaky pinion seal. So i got under it twice today to P.B. spray it and was wondering if the bolt is normal to take off or opposite thread. You know lefty loosy righty tighty or the opposite.

Yeah it is normal, "lefty losey". To be sure you get it right place the rear on jack stands and remove the driveshaft. Grab the yoke and turn it by hand to get the feel of it. Remove the nut , yoke remove and install the seal, install the yoke and nut and tighten the nut untill there is no play, if it feels "loose" tighten in 5ftlb increments untill it feels like it did befroe you took it apart. I think the spec is about 200ftlb
Good luck!

Thanks. I had the shaft off today and looked at the bolt and got the correct socket but just wanted to make sure before I start cranking on it. Better to be safe than sorry.

just don't over tighten it when you put it all back together again, there is a crush sleeve in there.

best to jack both rear wheels off the ground and remove the rear drive shaft then use an inch pound needle type torque wrench on the pinion nut and find the torque it takes to turn the wheels. then go about 5 inch pounds tighter when you torque the pinion nut to about 200 lb/ft.

good luck.
