Default Question about Engine Swap

So I have a 1989 original 200k motor. The head gasket looks to be leaking. I was already thinking about swapping in a HO motor anyways. So I am wanting to know what all will I need other than the motor valve cover to oil pan? Is there anything special I will need like a newer manifold or anything? Is it really just that easy as to plug and play the swap? Then I can practice my rebuild skills lol on the old engine and keep it or sell for a good $. Is there a certain year I need to stay away from that wont just fit right in with all the 1989 components?

This will be my first swap so I really am looking for anything I need to know to get some good information about this.

You could run an HO but you are going to need an ECU and wiring more then likely and some mods to make it work. If you have a donor you could easily transplant I would think.

come on now mycherokee... PM me again... ive got a HO in my renix jeep... and ive got the stock computer... runs great...

91-98 HO engine...
84-90Renix wiring
91-98 throttle cable
91-98intake system (or aftermarket like mine)
91-98 fuel rail
91-98 fuel lines to unibody (if four door... 2 doors one peice so youll have to run nice hoses and clamps)
99+intake (may as well since you got to get a 91+ anyway)
94 throttle body with sensor plugs to fit (jeep changed the sensor plug on many years... but the sensor is the basically the same... the 4 wired sensor closest to the valve cover plugs right up on a 94 TB... pretty sure mine was from a 94 anyway)
96 power steering bracket (got mine from a ZJ... not sure what years)
renix altenator
renix AC (so you dont have to break into the system)
91+exhaust manifold(may as well get 99+also)
when you get ready just PM me and ill give you my number... saves time... lol
