Question about head
Do you need to change the head when putting a 93 4.0 motor in a 96 with a 4.0? I know the intake needs to be changed so that the emissions and electrical connectors match, most likely distributor too, but did they do anyhting to the head when they switched to OBDII? I live in NY and have to hook up to a computer for emissions.

Do you know what kind of changes? I just don't wanna start throwing codes from something stupid like O2 readings using an older motor. I have a 93 with 177k on it, but would like to use the 96 motor and head in my 95 project because it only has 119k. At the same time, I need to keep the 96 emissions passable because I have to use it as my DD.

Casting of water and oil passages, and other minor changes to reduce noise, vibrations and costs. The block is different too, but in the same way. You can swap the whole engine keeping the original manifolds and the belt driven accessories with no problem.

Ok so my best bet it just to swap the 93 motor into the 95 and leave the 96 motor where it is to avoid complicating issues. Thanks guys, let me know if anyone thinks of anything else.
