Actually, there is a user on here that completely did away with that metal pipe with a 3/8" brass pipe fitting. You need a little longer heater hose, but it removes the need for those pipes in the future and they never rust.

Is it ok if I use Teflon tape or what did that user use for sealant if anyone knows?

That brass nipple is a 3/8" MNPT X 5/8" hose barb. I used RTV sealer though Teflon tape should work also. Need a new hose....a little longer. 5/8" and 3/4" heater hose are both sold by the foot at all auto parts stores.

I have checked all of my hardware stores for that barb fitting, and could not find one. What is the metal rod called at autozone so I can just go buy a new one tomorrow. I am looking on their site but I am not finding it.

I think they ended the inspections at least as far back as 1980. At that time you were required to have an insurance sticker instead of an inspection sticker. I guess it was cheaper for them to require everyone to have insurance to pay for the wrecks instead of performing inspections to prevent them lol. Also we don't have emissions testing, except maybe in the Louisville city limits.

I will check when I go tomorrow, I was just about to install it tonight and have everything setup so I can just add the inlet or barb fitting and the coolant and be good to go. But before I did one of the fans or blades (whatever they call it) but a dent into the wall. So I will see if I can exchange it tomorrow. Should I use teflon tape or some sort of a rtv sealant for the inlet tubing.

What do you mean?

edit; I see what you mean, and I realized my grammar dun goofed. No, when I opened the packaging I noticed the scuff dent on the water pump, but I don't think it will affect the coolant flow so I kept it.

Sure looks like a 5/8" hose barb X 3/8" MNPT to me........attached to a 3/8" FNPT X 3/8" FNPT bushing attached to a 2"-3" 3/8" MNPT nipple, no? Looks like a 1/2" MNPT X 3/8" FNPT bushing as well.

They didn't have any 5/8 fitting to a 3/8 thread

I had to do 5/8 fitting to 1/2 thread to a 1/2 coupling to a 1/2 male thread to a 3/8 female thread to a 3/8 pipe.

I wish it was a 5/8 to 3/8 barb but I was in home depot looking at stuff, and grabbing stuff if I thought I was onto something. About 5 min of that I found what I needed. I must say I am glad I have it that long, on my 89 its perfect length to the hose.
