Disregard the last post, figured it out.
but either my “hand tightening” is too tight. Or the threads in my pan are what’s actually stripped. I tightened the new plug/bolt down, and just like the original one, it got a little resistant but continues to turn without stopping . Any thoughts?
im leaning towards the threads are stripped on the pan, and I’ll have to replace it

The new bolt got resistant, but not stopping tight. and now just turns and turns with slight resistance.
did I over tighten the old one, and this new one? Or is it more likely the pans threads are stripped instead? Thanks as always

For anyone that cares, or wants to learn from my mistake.
ive determined I over tightened the drain plug, and ultimately stripped out the pan threads too. NOTE: hand tighten, dont tighten it with all you’ve got.
Long story short, I bought a new pan. Mopar off eBay, normally $125, but eBay did a Father’s Day dale so I got it for $100. Replaced the filter, new gasket, new drain plug. Got everything on, and filled up, only to realize I forgot to put the magnets in. Made a few phone calls to local trans shops for opinions. Verdict was I’d be better off dropping the pan again and putting the magnets in, rather than leaving them out /‘d hoping for the best.
What should have been 10 minutes to drain and fill, turned into a drawn out multi day fiasco due to negligence and lack of knowledge.

You might as well wait a few hundred miles and count it as another flush
Another reason I use cheaper fluid instead of the most expensive. That way I don't feel bad dumping $14 worth of Valvoline gear oil vs $60 worth of AMSoil

Common core math.
I wondered the same. Draining 3qts of fluid dropping the pan the 1st time + draining 3qts of fluid dropping the pan the 2nd time = 6qts.
If it were 3.5qts per drain, that would total 7qts. If it were 4qts per drain, that would be 8. He would have to drop the pan 3 times total to have drained 9qts worth of fluid.
