Quick question about U-Joint Clips
Hey guys i have another thread open already where im trying to figure out whats causing my 93 to vibrate when i accelerate. Anyways i just went under the Jeep and noticed the rear driver shaft U-Joint was missing 2 clips (https://i.imgur.com/4ZbpQZz.png) this is not my picture just posted to show the clips im talking about. I am guessing these clips are what keeps the U-joint held together so i should probably make it my business to replace them...Can i buy these clips by themselves online? And when i install them can i just pop them into the driveshaft as is or should i completely remove it first? I feel like i could just hammer them in with it still on the jeep as im not replacing anything but i dont wanna do anything dumb what do you guys think?
Also i just realized that maybe there are only supposed to be two clips on the rear U-joint... If this is the case i will delete the thread lol, just lemme know
thanks a lot

you should only have two clips holding the u-joint caps for the rear axle end of the drive shaft.
the other two caps won't have clips. these are held in place by the tabs in the ears of the axle yoke. the straps then hold the caps in place as the drive shaft is mounted in the yoke.
when all is buttoned down, you should not get any movement when you push straight up on the drive shaft at the yoke. if it even moves a sixteenth of an inch, that's no good, and will cause vibes as described.
if that's not it, then you've got something else causing your vibrations. you're gonna have to go noggin pokin to see where your issue lies.

Caged's response is all correct. Just verify that the tabs in the yoke ears are
present. I had one tab break off and in time the u-joint cap worked itself loose
and fell out. Shortly after that, the driveshaft completely came out of the yoke
and fell on the ground.
