umm. it sort of helps.

misleads people into believing there's a coolant temp sensor in one location when there actually IS NOT one there.

also, idk who posted about a v6 block drain...

but the only v6 ever put in a cherokee/comanche was a 2.8, way back in 1984-86, and it didn't have two drain plugs.

lil idea for makin the tool take some play dough or silly putty and stuff in there and then pull it out and use the mold to model your tool after, you can take an extra 3/8ths extension and just grind that down to fit.

honestly, just pull the lower hose. Its WAY easier then dealing with that stupid drain ****. Dont do it in the driveway or you got a mess to clean up!!

I think an 8mm (5/16") square will fit into that engine block drain plug. I looked all over for it, local stores and the internet, but only place I found on sale was in UK (United Kingdom)! Google "8MM SQUARE 3/8"" SQUARE DRIVE DRAIN PLUG KEY" and you'll find the adapter.

So for now, I pulled the lower radiator hose out to drain coolant. But that only drains about half of it, 6qts only, so I repeated the process four times but I still get cloudy fluid. I'll have to try again some other time.

How do other '98-01 XJ owners flush their radiator?

I would leave that sucker alone.

If you take it out you will wish you hadn't.

I guess this answers my question. I will just wait till I get the engine out.

YOU HAVE TO TURN THE RADIATOR DRAIN PLUG MORE THAN 90 DEGREES. I THINK 180 OR 270ish. IT WILL ALSO ROTATE OUT AFTER YOU TURN THE FIRST 90 DEGREES.

I pull the heater hose off the top of the motor, start the engine, and while its pumping the coolant out of one end I cram a hose in the other end it let it pump fresh water back through. YES it makes a HUGE mess but its incredibly fast and effective. ( I should also add that I use non-tox water additive instead of normal antifreeze)
