The lower fan shroud mounting points on my 97 XJ are disintgrating. The shrouds have nothing solid to mount to. A bungee will work for the moment, but are those mounting points part of the radiator, or is it a seperate piece?

There are slots on the bottom support for the radiator. This is one of the corners from my old radiator. The slots hold the tabs from the shroud and the electric fan.

Mine are completely gone. Its one of them aluminum with plastic tank radiators, which apparently uses a steel plate bolted to it to locate the shrouds. So, i took the upper support panel off to get a better look at what was going on and fished out what was left of that plate from under the radiator with a pen magnet. A rusted mess of delaminated steel, unsalvageable. Looked like mulch. The radiator was free floating in there, basically. I could feel bolt heads at each lower corner of the radiator, 2 per side, and can only assume thats how it was attached to the radiator. The two insulators are still there but will take some digging as the posts are dug in like a tick.
