Radiator: replace or repair?
'89 4L 6 cyl. Radiator has two leaks hence cannot do pressure test. So, might have gasket issues too. Question is, can this old radiator be patched, as we used to do, or is replacement the only quality option? I don't want to be a cheapskate but I've also got a potential for more expense afterwards. Thanks.

I was told by a local radiator shop that chrysler used about six different suppliers for XJ radiators, all had slightly different gaskets and tanks. He said replacement is the only way to go, a new radiator cost me $124 with lifetime warrantee and I got it that day. He could have fixed it, but it would have taken up to two weeks to make sure he got the right tank and gasket and it would have been over $200 as well.

Ya I had same issue, Called a shop to repair it and it turned out it was cheaper to buy a new one as well... Better to replace it with a new one, Since these jeeps have a tendacy to crack heads if they over heat, Much better to just replace it..

Really a no brainer. Two leaks. Have it patched up and you will have the next leak waiting to happen. And a $124 new radiator with lifetime warranty?
I would have bought it yesterday.
I would have bought it yesterday.
