my radio and cigar lighter quit working after taking my '94 jeep Cherokee with 4.0 liter v6 in it off roading this past weekend. I thought I may have just blown a fuse but I checked the fuses and they are all good. So I figure it must be a loose wire or connection, please help if you have any advice at all.

Did you put a multimeter on the fuse or just eyeball it. Fuses can pop and still look OK. Also check all connections.

This. Or check for loose connections, but with both being blown I would put money on the fuse being bad.

It could also be that V6 swap you did.

Adventure

Find a fuse in your panel that is the same amperage on a working accessory and swap them.. Quick way to tell if the fuse is good or its something else.

yes I used a meter and got nothing, so im thinking its a loose cable but I don't know where to wire would be. I also cannot find a fuse layout for this year and model and idk exactly what would be compatiable

it was indeed a blown fuse!!! for some reason my meter was still showing that it had voltage, but when I finally found the chart and checked the fuse in plug 2, it was blown. And yes I had the key on, really no reason to make people feel stupid or call them stupid for asking questions, if ya don't have something productive that might actually help the problem, best just keep it to yourself.

when I used the meter I got no reading but it was on a 5 that had nothing to do with the radio haha cable was unhooked.

Just poking fun at you. It's an inline 6. The motor has all of the cylinders in a line, unlike a V6 which has 3 cylinders on each side in the shape of a V.

That's because it did have voltage. On one side of the fuse

Exactly. The supply side has voltage, but with the fuse blown, the load side is dead.

oh... that makes sense, so is there anyway to tell without taking it out? just make sure to test both sides of the fuse?

oh right!! haha idk why I put v6, I knew that, I guess cuz im so used to everything these days being a v design, why did they use the inline for those older jeeps?
