Radio volume diminishes when returned to dash.
A few months back, due to no apparent associated event, the volume of the radio diminished 80%. In the process of solving another problem, I had the dash off and discovered when I pulled the radio out the volume increased back to normal. I've narrowed the problem to the antenna cable in that when it is bent and pushed back into the dash the volume cuts way down. I have cleaned the plug into the radio and found it to be fine. I have manipulated the cable into various positions while putting it back into the dash, but, each time the volume still diminishes. While the radio is accessible, I can bend and pull and turn the wire any way and cannot make the volume go down. But, as soon as it goes all the way in the dash it goes down to where you can hardly hear it.
What's up with that?

 

I can only guess that the antenna or it's cable is not working. The radio it's self might be picking up a signal while it's out, then looses it when in the dash. That's all I've got!
