Rattle at Idle
I have been recently upping the maintenance and tracing down little electrical problems and sounds with my newly purchased cherokee.
I have a rattle at idle speeds sounds like it is coming from the transmission area. I found some threads that point it to the TC bolts being loose. I checked them today and they are all torqued to spec. If i move my Transfer Case lever it seems that i can manipulate to rattle to stop. If i listen carefully, i can her the rattle when i am moving but only if i go over a bump in the road. My question is, should i start at the linkage bushings? Or does that sound more like a transmission mount?
Also when in 4wd, my transfer case is very noisy. I have the 242 Transfer case. When i move the handle just slightly it starts making a little bit of noise like it is slightly engaged. Next on my maintenance list is to change the transfer case oil, i just use standard ATF fluid correct?
Also i last posted on another thread and i will include that question in this thread because i feel it might be related. My T-Case acts the same in full time as it does in part time as far as the steering binding when making turns. (( https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/par...-32159/index2/ ))
Thanks for all your input and suggestions!!

I have this exact same rattle. I can hold the t-case shifter and it stops, but goes right back to rattling when I let go... Will look into that linkage fix kit. Thanks Mike!
